Sometimes it can be difficult to get your point across over chat messages. Discussions can go around in circles, and decision making can take much longer than it should. For times like these, you just need to jump on a video call to iron out issues, make quick decisions, or just see a friendly face — especially in this new age of remote work.
Now, Teamwork Chat can make that happen with our latest feature, Video Calls.
Video Calls in Teamwork Chat give you a quick way to hop on 1-to-1 or group video calls, without having to switch to another app. Not only can you now make video calls, but you can also share your screen when you need to present to your team or get feedback on design.
This latest feature can save you time on flicking between apps and help you connect with your team even more — even if it’s just for a quick virtual coffee.
Let’s take a closer look
Getting started with Video Calls is really easy. To make a video call, simply go to a private chat with a teammate, or to your team channel, hit the video icon on the top right corner to start a new video call, and you’re live!
1-1 calls
For 1-1 calls, once you get started, a Call Card will pop up in your private channel alerting your teammate that a video call has started. They simply click on the Join button and a new tab will open where the video call will take place — so you can still respond to messages while on a call if you need. If you need someone else to join the call, simply click the Copy Link icon on the bottom left corner of the screen and send it to another member of your team to join.
Group calls
For group calls, once you hit the video icon in your team channel, a new tab will open where the video call will take place. From here you can name the call so the team knows what it’s about before hopping on. A Call Card will pop up alerting your team that a video call has started and they simply click on the Join button to get started. As more people join their profile icons will show on the call card, so everyone can see who is on the call as they join. The Call Card remains in your chat history showing who was on the call and how long it lasted for future reference.
When you’re on a Video Call, you can choose from Active Speaker or Grid View, depending on your preference. You also have the usual options to mute/un-mute, turn your camera on/off, and share your screen.
If you need someone else to join your group call, simply click the Copy Link icon on the bottom left corner of the screen and send it to another member of your team to join. Check out the video below to see our Video Calls in action.
Coming soon to Teamwork Chat
Building on Video Calls, you’ll soon be able to start calls directly from our Desktop app as well as increase the number of participants on the call. We’re also working on making it easy for you to add guest users to Teamwork Chat to simplify collaboration with clients and contractors.
1-to-1 Video Calls are available to customers on our legacy plan, while Group Video Calls are only available to customers on the Deliver Plan and higher. We’re really excited about Video Calls for Teamwork Chat, so if you have any feedback, please leave them as comments on this blog post, or if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out at support@teamwork.com, and we’d be happy to help.
